Lawn Bowls Sizes
The bowl travels in a curved path because of the design of the bowl
(or ball). In the beginning, weights were literally inserted into the
bowl on one side. This is no longer allowed. Now the weight bias is
because of the design on the actual bowl.
According to the regulations of the sport, the minimum diameter is
11.6 cm. The maximum is 13.1 cm. As long as these rules are met, the
player can choose a bowl that fits their particular tastes.
In the early stages of the sport, they were made from wood (lignum
vitae). Today, they are usually made from a hard plastic material.
At one point, the bowls only came in brown or black. In modern times,
they are now available in a number of colors, including fluorescent
colors.

Today's Lawn Bowls
Each one is identified with unique markings. Many of the bowls look
very similar. For that reason, sometimes stickers are put on the bowl to
identify them. In fact, some of the local associations will assign
specific type of stickers for each team. In national and international
competitions, different sets of stickers are assigned based on the
country.
